Princess Luna raises and lowers the moon. She is Princess Celestia's sister, and is known as the ruler of the night. 1,000 years ago she refused to lower the moon, and became Nightmare Moon in the process. She was then banished to the moon. When she broke free Mane 6 cured her of her evilness and she took her position as Princess of the Night again.
